Long distances and trails. Sticks to your body and doesn't shake.
There are times when you have to run carrying water, gel, a phone, and keys. This is equipment that carries them by "attaching" them to your torso rather than your hands. It consists of a vest, a waist belt, a handheld water bottle, and arm bands.
What happens if you run without a bag or a belt?
These are the rules for the 2023 Ultra Trail Mount Fuji competition. You must carry this amount when starting and when leaving each aid and water station.
It is the same competition rule. Paper cups are not provided for the lemonade, so everyone must run carrying their own cup. It is essentially like using the bag as a "dishes storage."
These are the World Athletics Road Race Rules. For events longer than 10 km, food stations are required to be placed approximately every 5 km, with water stations in between.
These are measurements taken from 42 trained runners. This represents the difference in pelvic rotation range between the four conditions: bare body, 454 g water bottle, 227 g water bottle, and 676 g waist belt. Oxygen and energy consumption did not vary depending on the condition.
It is suitable for those running for over an hour on mountains or riversides without water stations. It is practically essential for trail races where you must carry a liter of water, a raincoat, and a headlamp. However, it must fit snugly. If it is loose, the shoulder straps will chafe your skin.
웨이스트 벨트 (물병형)It is suitable for people running alone for 10 to 20 km. It is appropriate for distances where around 500 mL of water and a few gel packets are sufficient. It does not cover the shoulders, so it is less hot in the summer, but if it bounces up and down from the waist, it hits the lumbar spine.
러닝 벨트 (주머니형)It is suitable for people who do not need water and only need to carry a phone, keys, and cards. It is perfect for city runs or participating in competitions. It is thin so it does not show easily when tucked under clothes, and its almost weightless design makes it a comfortable choice for first-time buyers.
It is suitable for people who run for less than an hour and only need a bottle of water. It is also suitable for those who dislike tight clothing. However, since you have to use one hand continuously, it is not suitable for mountain trails where you need to brace yourself if you fall.
It is suitable for people who need to view a screen while running or wear clothes without pockets. Since it is worn on the arm, it cannot support much weight. If you put a large phone in it, it will shake, and if you tighten it, your arm may go numb.

I have reviewed and summarized the publicly available research and institution guides. Where research differs, I indicate this and include the supporting evidence.
Bags · Belts (Waist belts · Running vests)
When it is a hassle to run carrying water and a cell phone — a body-fastening belt and vest
Attaching your gear to your torso frees up your hands. The World Association of Athletics explains in its trail event guidelines that organizers may hang essential equipment, including clothing, a windbreaker, a headlamp, water, and food. The belt and vest are where this gear is carried.
However, the evidence that "where you strap it" makes it less strenuous is still weak. In an experiment where 12 male and female runners ran for 60 minutes each carrying 1 kg in their hands, on their waists, and on their backs, there was no difference among the three methods in terms of oxygen consumption, energy expenditure, heart rate, or level of exertion.
The spot where a belt touches is where the same force is repeatedly applied to flesh softened by sweat. That is how abrasions begin.
