시계 (GPS 러닝워치)
When you wonder what your current pace is — a GPS watch on your wrist
- Running watches calculate distance and pace by stitching together coordinates captured by satellite signals. Therefore, the more the sky is obscured, the more the numbers deviate. In a test comparing eight different watches, the distance error ranged from 0.9% to 4.1% on open running tracks and from 3.5% to 8.9% in forests and urban areas.
- The method of measuring heart rate on the wrist involves shining light onto the skin to read changes in blood flow. In a test in which 16 participants compared two devices from one company, the average absolute error of the wristwatch was 6.41 bpm. The device from the same company designed to be worn on the upper arm was 1.43 bpm.
- Even with the same wrist device, it varied depending on what was being done. The margin of error during jogging was 3.55%, but it exceeded 10% when the heart rate was low, such as when lying down or walking.
