This is an item I bring along when I want to listen to music while running. It delivers music and coach voiceovers to your ears, while also serving as a device to determine how much outside noise is left behind.

What happens if you run without earphones?

This is the weekly limit recommended by the World Health Organization for adults. If you raise it to 90dB, the safe time is reduced to four hours.
This is based on the standards of the U.S. National Institute on Hearing and Communication Disorders. Listening to sounds of 85 dBA or higher repeatedly for extended periods can lead to hearing loss. Listening to sounds of 70 dBA or lower for a long time is unlikely to cause hearing loss.
This is a 2011 International Review of Sports and Exercise Psychology. It is the value when playing background music during low-to-moderate intensity exercise, and the effect disappears once the anaerobic threshold is crossed.
This is the same 2011 review. It is the appropriate tempo range for playing music in the background in the 40–90% range of maximum heart rate reserve.
These are accidents involving pedestrians wearing earphones collected in the United States from 2004 to 2011 (University of Maryland). 70% were fatal, 55% involved trains, and 29% occurred after the horn was sounded.

It sends vibrations to the cheekbones without blocking the ears. It is suitable for people riding on roads with car and bicycle traffic, during dawn and night, or on unfamiliar routes. The bass is weak, and you can feel the vibration when you turn up the volume.
Instead of being inserted into the ear, a small speaker is hung near the outer ear to send sound through the air. It is suitable for people who want better sound quality than bone conduction while leaving external sounds intact. In quiet places, sound leaks out and can be heard by those nearby.
  • 무선 이어폰(커널형)It blocks out sound by covering your ears. It is suitable for those who want to fully immerse themselves in music on a treadmill, indoors, or on an empty track. Since outside sounds are almost completely blocked, it is not recommended for busy roads or competitions.
You can load songs onto the earphones or the watch itself and play them without a mobile phone. It is suitable for people who want to go out without holding anything in their hands. However, it requires the effort of transferring songs before running.
You don't have to worry about charging, the connection doesn't drop, and it's cheap. It's suitable for indoor training or as a spare. The cord gets caught when you swing your arm, and many modern mobile phones don't have a 3.5mm jack.

I have reviewed and summarized the publicly available research and institution guides. Where research differs, I indicate this and include the supporting evidence.

Earphones (bone conduction · open-ear)

When you want to listen to music while running — earphones that don't block your ears

  • Whether transmitted through bone or air, sound eventually reaches the cochlea. However, just because it is bone conduction does not mean it is safe to listen at high volumes. The safe listening standards jointly issued by the WHO and ITU recommend that adults do not exceed 80 dB per week, equivalent to 40 hours.

  1. In-ear headphones that block your ears are dangerous on the road.
  2. It gets soaked in sweat. Check the water resistance rating (IP).
  3. There are places at the competition that block earphones. I look at the chamber pot in advance.

These are the standards compiled by Running Inside. Since everyone's feet and body are different, this is not the definitive answer.
